U.S. Navy Hospital Corps & Chaplain Fund
Kristus is partnered with concerned individuals who are providing humanitarian service to our Navy Hospital Corpsmen and Corpswomen who have been killed or wounded during combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Hospital Corps has a record of valor, service and sacrifice unparalleled in the annals of our nation's military history. More Medals of Honor have been awarded to members of the Hospital Corps than any other comparable military organization and are out of all proportion to their small numbers. This fact alone speaks to the bravery and heroism of these fine young men and women. The Navy Hospital Corps and Chaplain Fund provides way to acknowledge and give thanks to those Corps members who have paid the highest cost for their service to others and to their nation.
The latest recipient is a young Hospital Corpsman recently wounded in an ambush while on patrol with his unit in Iraq. The humvee he was riding in was destroyed by enemy fire, killing all the occupants except for him. Fortunately, he was not strapped in to the seat of the humvee because he felt it important to be able to jump out and render medical care to the wounded as quickly as possible. When the humvee exploded, he was thrown clear but suffered critical injuries and severe burns. Money raised by the fund helped his family to visit him in the military hospital where is now recuperating, and in good spirits.
