Community-based
Conservation among the Marik Clan, PNG
Efforts are in progress
to assist the Marik Clan of the Transgogol River
Valley in Madang Province initiate a community-
based conservation project. The project will explore
ways to help the Marik Clan achieve self-determination
and economic self-sufficiency. Specifically, the
Kristus Center is exploring ways to map traditional
tribal boundaries and establish a protected management
area that may lead to viable eco-travel and other
micro-enterprise outcomes.

Cordillera Conservation Trust, Philippines
The Cordillera Conservation Trust seeks to provide
relevant practical and sustainable solutions to
environmental problems arising in the Cordillera
region that seek to undermine the continued ecological
services that the mountain region provides for its
people. Working in partnership with the different
local communities we develop practical and appropriate
solutions to the environmental problems now confronting
the Cordillera Region. |
