As the program director of the Cordillera Conservation Trust he is involved in all aspects of the organizations work, from raising funds to developing and implementing programs in the different communities. As a board member of the CCT he was also one of the people responsible for the organizations creation.

A Passionate Environmentalist JP is a National Geographic Society Grantee and holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco and Ateneo de Manila as well as a Bachelors Degree in Biology from the University of the Philippines. Prior to his taking the reigns of CCT he has worked with Indigenous Peoples all over the Philippines on Natural Resource Issues affecting their villages and developing Sustainable Solutions for environmental problems affecting the mountain region. He has also worked in Indigenous Education developing culturally responsive curriculums for Indigenous children across the Philippine Islands. 

 

He is also a member of the Ibaloi ethnic group of the Cordillera and traces his roots from the fertile valley of La Trinidad in the Benguet Province of the Philippines. His ethnicity and experiences growing up in the Cordillera mountains is what he attributes as the main reasons that he is engaged in work for the betterment of his people and the environment.

 

JP is the lead project manager for the Green Stoves and Eco-Cultural Trail projects.

 

An avid outdoorsman, and much like the work that they do he spends most of his free time exploring the mountains trekking and mountain biking. He is also a photographer and has done exhibits of his images in the Philippines. His photographs appear on this website.
