At present the CCT programs are concentrated along the eastern Cordillera mountain range in the areas that are covered by the Cordillera trail which connects the mountain range in the provinces of Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Ilocos Sur. These areas are among the few remaining pristine ecological reserves in the region and are the areas in critical need of assistance in determining a sustainable path to the future.

 

Several areas along the trail, especially those close to major highways, such as Tinoc in Ifugao, Betwagan in Mountain Province, and Pangawan in Benguet are already experiencing a degradation of their local environments due to unsustainable practices and entry into the new market system. Although they still do not have the same problems as the urban centers of the country the problems of waste management, pollution and depletion of local resources of forests and waters are becoming an increasingly large reality and quickly spreading to the adjacent mountain villages. The trust aims to address these problems through its programs and continuously working with the local communities to craft better ways to develop our mountain environment.
