Distance Learning and Resource Center - Update
Kristus Center is actively working to expand and fully develop our resource center in Papua New Guinea. This same plan will be implemented in other developing communities such as Abatan Hospital in the Philippines.

  • Create initial information pages that contain content and images of culturally relevant health, disease prevention and nutrition topics and issues for Papua New Guinea. Links related to these issues will also be included. This will be accomplished with the use of currently available software including Front Page and Dream Weaver. It is anticipated that the first pages will be available on the Kristus Web site by June 15, 2005.

  • The next phase will be the addition of a Kristus Newsgroup that will enable Kristus members in the US, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines as well as community member in these two countries to discuss issues and topics of interest and concern over the Web. This function will be available by June 30, 2005.

  • During the final quarter of 2005, a course will be added to the Kristus Web site that will introduce first time users of the Web to the basic information and skills necessary to make use of not only the Kristus Web site but other useful links to the Internet.

  • Depending on the number of users of the Resource Center and the Web Use Course by the end of 2005, Kristus is prepared to convert its Web pages into a fully functional Learning Management System that will enable the organization to plan, develop and implement a variety of courses, discussion groups and resource sites in the first or second quarter of 2006.
